Hope Specialist Falls & Respiratory Service

The HOPE Specialist Falls and Respiratory Service provides patient-centred care for people with chronic respiratory diseases such as COPD (Chronic Bronchitis and Emphysema) and older people at risk of falls. This award-winning service offers individually tailored and holistic assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and education. The multidisciplinary team consists of physiotherapists, occupational therapists, technical instructors, rehabilitation assistants and volunteers. Programs include an eight-week, twice-weekly exercise and education programme delivered by clinical staff and expert volunteers (Pulmonary Rehab Buddies). The Falls Service accepts referrals from GPs, nurses or self-referrals. The service is based at the Val Waterhouse Centre with a fully equipped gym and clinic area. HOPE has achieved accreditation under the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Services Accreditation Scheme (PRSAS).
